Virtual Private Server (VPS)

Spec & Price

Virtual private server, in which virtualization technology is employed in order to allow multiple logical servers to run on a single physical server.
The force driving server virtualization is similar to that which led to the development of time-sharing and multiprogramming in the past. Although the resources are still shared, as under the time-sharing model, virtualization provides a higher level of security, dependent on the type of virtualization used, as the individual virtual servers are mostly isolated from each other and may run their own full-fledged operating system which can be independently rebooted as a virtual instance.

A virtual private server (VPS) is a virtual machine sold as a service by an Internet hosting service.

A VPS runs its own copy of an operating system, and customers have super user-level access to that operating system instance, so they can install almost any software that runs on that OS. For many purposes they are functionally equivalent to a dedicated physical server, and being software-defined, are able to be much more easily created and configured. They are priced much lower than an equivalent physical server, but as they share the underlying physical hardware with other VPSs, performance may be lower, and may depend on the workload of other instances on the same hardware node.

Rack Space

Spec & Price

Newton helps you with the setup of your entire server rack infrastructure, from one single rack (11U, 22U of 46U) with power where you use the Newton network (routing and firewall infrastructure), to setting up a complete autonomous environment with your own routing, firewall setup, redundant network and more.

Modern server racks

The possibilities are endless: you may choose a full server rack (capacity 46U), a 1/2 rack (22U) or a 1/4 rack (11U). These modern server racks are at least 1000 mm deep and 800 mm wide so you have enough space for your cabling or large servers. Each rack is delivered with enough current through two separate power circuits (A + B feed) for all kinds of hardware, from blade chassis to high computing clusters. The server racks have electronic locks with PIN code and independent temperature sensors.

Flexible Connectivity

Quality, connectivity and reliabilityare at high stake at Newton. This quality control is extended to our housing services. The server racks are - at your demand - available with a dual 100 Mbit Fast Ethernet over copper, Gigabit Ethernet over 1000Base-T copper or 1000Base-SX multimode fiber connections.

  • Cabinets – A cabinet is a locking unit that holds a server rack. In a multi-tenant data center, servers within cabinets share raised-floor space with other tenants, in addition to sharing power and cooling infrastructure.
  • Cages – A cage is dedicated server space within a traditional raised-floor data center; it is surrounded by mesh walls and entered through a locking door. Cages share power and cooling infrastructure with other data center tenants.
  • Suites –A suite is a dedicated, private server space within a traditional raised-floor data center; it is fully enclosed by solid partitions and entered through a locking door. Suites share power and cooling infrastructure with other data center tenants.
  • Modules – A data center module is “a prefabricated, pretested module which is assembled in a custom-configured manner to form a complete solution, ideally defined by software.”[6] In a colocation environment, the data center module is a data center within a data center, with its own steel walls and security protocol, and its own cooling and power infrastructure. “A number of colocation companies have praised the modular approach to data centers to better match customer demand with physical build outs, and allow customers to buy a data center as a service, paying only for what they consume.

Managed Server (MS)

Spec & Price

Managed Server, applies to both physical dedicated servers and virtual servers, with many companies choosing a hybrid (combination of physical and virtual) hosting solution. There are many similarities between standard and complex managed hosting but the key difference is the level of administrative and engineering support that the customer pays for – owing to both the increased size and complexity of the infrastructure deployment. The provider steps in to take over most of the management, including security, memory, storage and IT support. The service is primarily proactive in nature.

Management features include:

  • Database management
  • Server monitoring and recovery
  • Anti-spam and virus protection
  • Security scans and audits
  • Telephone-based customer support
  • Advanced configurations
  • Software updates
  • Operating system updates
  • Firewall services
  • Backup services
  • Advanced technical support
  • Application deployment

Managed server is a service that includes the hardware, software, and ongoing upkeep of a dedicated server. The dedicated server industry often bundles additional services and products with the servers to provide a deeper level of management.

Managed dedicated server providers employ full-time system administrators that maintain dedicated servers. A managed dedicated server allows for not only more productivity, but eases your mind about a multitude of other issues, sometimes unforeseen by the client and even the developers working on functions of the dedicated hosting server. Security is a very large factor in choosing not only a managed dedicated hosting company, but also in choosing a managed dedicated server. .

Web Server (WS)

Spec & Price

Web servers often come as part of a larger package of Internet- and intranet-related programs for serving email, downloading requests for File Transfer Protocol (FTP) files, and building and publishing Web pages. Considerations in choosing a Web server include how well it works with the operating system and other servers, its ability to handle server-side programming, security characteristics, and the particular publishing, search engine and site building tools that come with it.

Web servers are not always used for serving the World Wide Web. They can also be found embedded in devices such as printers, routers, webcams and serving only a local network. The web server may then be used as a part of a system for monitoring and/or administering the device in question. This usually means that no additional software has to be installed on the client computer, since only a web browser is required (which now is included with most operating systems).

Web servers implement the following features are :

  • Authentication, optional authorization request (request of user name and password) before allowing access to some or all kind of resources.
  • Handling of not only static content (file content recorded in server's file systems) but of dynamic content too by supporting one or more related interfaces (SSI, CGI, SCGI, Fast CGI, JSP, PHP, ASP, ASP .NET, Server API such as NSAPI,ISAPI, etc.).
  • HTTPS support (by SSL or TLS) to allow secure (encrypted) connections to the server on the standard port 443 instead of usual port 80.
  • Content compression (i.e. by zip encoding) to reduce the size of the responses (to lower bandwidth usage, etc.).
  • Virtual hosting to serve many web sites using one IP address.
  • Large file support to be able to serve files whose size is greater than 2 GB on 32 bit OS.
  • Bandwidth throttling to limit the speed of responses in order to not saturate the network and to be able to serve more clients.

A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server owned or leased for use by clients, as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for other servers located in their data center, called colocation.

Here is a list of required components in a mail server

  • Mail Transfer Agent
  • Mail Delivery Agent
  • IMAP and/or POP3 Server

When setting up a web site or application under your own domain, it is likely that you will also want a mail server to handle the domain's incoming and outgoing email. A typical mail server consists of many software components that provide a specific function. Each component must be configured and tuned to work nicely together and provide a fully-functioning mail server. Because they have so many moving parts, mail servers can become complex and difficult to set up.
